*Managing innovation [ 2006-02-06 ]

A seminar on managing innovation will take place in Paris, France, on 7 and 8 March. The event will address such issues as:

  • stimulating creativity so that it increases the value of production;
  • ensuring that new innovations correlate with the strategy of a business;
  • reducing time to market;
  • building up a portfolio of innovative projects;
  • innovation networks.

The seminar will address both the theories surrounding innovation and practical examples.

*LIFT 2006 - the applications of new technologies [ 2006-02-06 ]

LIFT, a conference exploring the applications of new technologies, will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 2 and 3. The goal of the conference is to bring together people involved in the field of new technologies, and who have creative or elegant solutions as to how these technologies may be used.

Speakers will be drawn from the worlds of fashion, technology, business and academia, and will address five major areas:

  • big ideas: from co-creation to blogging via a copyright-free world, the way new technologies break-down the conventional;
  • design: how technology makes life better for people;
  • emerging technologies: nanotechnology to RFID (the chips that will soon be embedded in everything we buy) - what is in the pipeline?;
  • global solidarity: technology as a means not just to connect people, but to save lives;
  • Internet: the glue for almost all of the other topics - how this innovation continues to innovate.

*Conference 'Communicating European research (CER) 2005' 14-15 November, Brussels [ 2005-04-15 ]

*The European Commission has issued its proposal for the 7th Framework Programme [ 2005-04-15 ]

On 6 April 2005, the European Commission has issued its proposal for the 7th Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2007-2013).

The Commission's proposal accords an important role to and opportunities for the social sciences and humanities (SSH). This is evident both in terms of budget as well as of the range of actions and types of instruments. The proposed budget: 797 million Euros for collaborative research in SSH.

*EARMA Conference 2005 - Genova, Italy, 16 to 18 June 2005 [ 2005-04-10 ]
