*LIFT 2006 - the applications of new technologies [ 2006-02-06 ]

LIFT, a conference exploring the applications of new technologies, will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 2 and 3. The goal of the conference is to bring together people involved in the field of new technologies, and who have creative or elegant solutions as to how these technologies may be used.

Speakers will be drawn from the worlds of fashion, technology, business and academia, and will address five major areas:

  • big ideas: from co-creation to blogging via a copyright-free world, the way new technologies break-down the conventional;
  • design: how technology makes life better for people;
  • emerging technologies: nanotechnology to RFID (the chips that will soon be embedded in everything we buy) - what is in the pipeline?;
  • global solidarity: technology as a means not just to connect people, but to save lives;
  • Internet: the glue for almost all of the other topics - how this innovation continues to innovate.

*Conference 'Communicating European research (CER) 2005' 14-15 November, Brussels [ 2005-04-15 ]

We have the pleasure to inform you that our Directorate-General will organise a major conference 'Communicating European research (CER) 2005' on 14-15 November in Brussels. Maximum 3000 people will participate. The first announcement is now available on: europa.eu.int.

As the prime target of this event are participants in EU-funded projects, we would be grateful if you could relay this information to interested parties in your country and sector. Free admission to the Conference will be offered to one NCP for each Member State and Associated State.

*The European Commission has issued its proposal for the 7th Framework Programme [ 2005-04-15 ]

On 6 April 2005, the European Commission has issued its proposal for the 7th Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2007-2013).

The Commission's proposal accords an important role to and opportunities for the social sciences and humanities (SSH). This is evident both in terms of budget as well as of the range of actions and types of instruments. The proposed budget: 797 million Euros for collaborative research in SSH.

*EARMA Conference 2005 - Genova, Italy, 16 to 18 June 2005 [ 2005-04-10 ]

*EuroTaiwan2005: EuroTaiwan2005 IT Cooperation Event [ 2005-03-23 ]
Pre-event: March 28, Taipei, Taiwan,

Main-event: April 27-30, Taipei & Hsinchu.

With the aim to enhance IT scientific and technological cooperation between the European Union and Taiwan, the European Commission has initiated the GAPFILL Project. GAPFILL’s main objective is to allow Taiwanese companies and research institutes to be more involved in European R&D Projects funded by the IST Programme of the European Commission (www.cordis.lu).

To give the opportunity to European and Taiwanese organisations interested in participating in the EC IST programme and get more detailed information and support in their efforts to initiate cooperation projects, it has been decided to organise a “2005 Euro-Taiwan IT Cooperation Event” (EuroTaiwan2005) to be held from April 27 to 30, 2005, in Taiwan.
Prior to this main event, it has been considered as relevant to organise an “Information Briefing” (March 28, 8:00-10:30 am, Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei) to the kind attention of European organisations active in the IT area and based in Taiwan, so that these organisations can receive detailed information in advance and be better prepared to participate in the cooperation event of April.

The Organizing Committee of the 3rd International Conference on Politics and Information Systems: Technologies and Applications (PISTA '05), is pleased to invite you to participate in this international event that will be held on July 14-17, 2005, in Orlando, Florida, USA.
